Teen Advisory Board (TAB)
- TAB provides a platform for high school students to have a voice in our theatre through programming and volunteering. By participating in TAB, teens can build confidence, learn how to manage time and resources, communicate with adults, in addition to acquiring community service hours. TAB develops leadership and communications skills, with the core goal of creating community.
- Applications to join TAB are on a need be basis.
- Joining is a large commitment with requirements, some of which are volunteering for the theatre, attending and planning events in addition to meeting attendance.
- TAB is a bridge between theatre staff and the Bellevue Youth Theatre Foundation.
- This group does exciting things!
Amplify
- Amplify is a summer theatre program for youth aged 13-18 years old. Teens rehearsed and performing in the BYT amphitheater and the performances were open to the public, free of charge.
- The majority of the 2023 cast was made up of teens who’d never participated in theater before, much less at BYT. The group comprised of students that 64% were female-identifying, 18% male identifying, and 18% non-binary. A few had also experienced homelessness.
- The Foundation is focused on providing theatre based outdoor recreation for underserved and/or economically disadvantaged youth. Cost is a barrier for some teens and the BYT Foundation’s support in summer 2024 will eliminate the cost barrier to participation.
