BYT and the BYT Foundation
The Bellevue Youth Theatre (Theatre) utilizes the power of theatre to alter the lives of young people and all participants. Everyone who auditions gets a role, no one is turned away and there are no barriers to participation. This inclusive approach gives not just young people, but all people regardless of abilities and backgrounds the chance to connect, grow and shine through theatre productions the whole community can enjoy.
Going beyond the development of our youth the Theatre fosters a spirit of inclusiveness and growth for everyone providing opportunities for all, across all ages, cultural, racial, and socio-economic diversities, and involving those with special needs and disabilities.
It has never been more important than now to provide today’s youth with opportunities for growth and development. Many communities support this through investment in athletics programs and facilities, but it is rare that a community recognizes the importance of incorporating the arts into the fabric of the community. The Bellevue Youth Theatre program provides young people with a safe, supportive environment, enabling the growth of creative, social, teamwork and leadership skills.
The Bellevue Youth Theatre Foundation (Foundation) believes strongly in the value that the arts can bring to our community. Studies demonstrate that investment in the arts contributes to more capable and productive workers, better communicators and more informed arts patrons. The City of Bellevue alone cannot support all the needs of the Theatre. The Foundation was formed as a nonprofit organization created to ensure the dream is kept alive and to provide essential support for the Bellevue Youth Theatre through volunteers, fundraising and community engagement.
